Launch of a New Working Party Group for Cambs - and chance to have a go at scything

  • Haslingfield Wellhouse meadow Haslingfield Cambridge United Kingdom (map)

Many people and community groups in Cambridgeshire are having a go at managing spaces in their gardens, orchards and public meadows in ways that are practical and friendly for nature. Scything fits the bill - it's quiet, traditional, great exercise, and can help create a healthy, diverse meadow. Join local scything expert Jim McVittie in this first of two upcoming sessions at Haslingfield's Wellhouse Meadow. You can observe experts scything and have a go at scything yourself to see if you might be interested in learning the craft. Help is also need in raking the meadow.
Bring gloves, sturdy boots and your own water, but cake will be provided!

Free, but donations from learners to the Eco Group are welcome on the day or via our online donation portal.

NOTE: Scythes are very sharp tools and all learners must receive a briefing before use and use the equipment at their own risk.

Location: The entrance to the meadow is on a part of Broad Lane in Haslingfield which is pedestrian access only. Parking is available on Broad Lane or the High St.
