Join us for A People's Microgrid: Smart Local Energy Systems for a Community, an exciting online talk that explores the potential of smart local energy systems in empowering communities. Discover how microgrids can revolutionize the way we generate, store, and distribute energy, leading to a more sustainable and resilient future. Led by energy engineer Mike Barker of www.EnergyFlexibility.org with plenty of time for Q &A.

In preparing for our October Reimagining Community Energy event, I connected with Mike and through him I have begun to learn about microgrids.

A microgrid can be anything from a smart system that enables you to use your home energy efficiently to an integrated generation, storage and energy management system that enables a business to go off-grid.

A recent short and easy to follow talk by PhD candidate Anais Berkes on the Optimal Design of Domestic Microgrids (click to view on YouTube) at Cambridge University tells a little more about microgrids for individual homeowners, and why they could be way to a 100% renewable future.

Mike’s business has been focused on commercial applications, but he has also been putting his mind to the question of community microgrids - or what he calls, The People’s Microgrid. Now Mike has offered to give us an online talk and Q & A on his ideas.
