Twelve people gathered in Wisbey’s Yard Community Room for Haslingfield and Harlton Eco Group’s 2025 AGM on 2 April. It was a relaxed occasion with time to connect, reflect on what the group has been doing, gain inspiration and share ideas about our future direction.
We all introduced ourselves and welcomed our two visitors from other local groups, Sustainable Shepreth and Friends of the River Shep. Chair Michelle then introduced this year’s Annual Report and there was time to read it and ask questions. Click here to read the report.
Interim Treasurer Lisa said a few words about the finance report she had prepared, which was followed by a brief discussion.
We appreciated the work of Lucy and Alison who have stood down as Treasurer and Secretary. Lisa now officially takes over as Treasurer and Michelle and Sheena will act as co-chair and Secretary. Caroline joined the committee, and Lara will seek a representative from Friends of the Rhee to join too. Committee members who are continuing this year are Anne, Pippa and Alison.
Next we showed two short films:
“The Story of Solutions”, which explores how we can move our economy in a more sustainable and just direction. (https://www.storyofstuff.org/movies/the-story-of-solutions/) 9 minutes
“From What Is to What If, a Walk through a Day in 2030”, by Rob Hopkins, founder of the Transition movement. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTNhpXdyciM) 2 minutes
This led into small group discussions where we shared feelings and ideas generated by the films, as well as our thoughts about where our group focus should be now. Back together we heard from each group and closed with a round where each of us identified our personal next steps.
The new steering committee will begin meeting soon, with an agenda of revising our constitution and meeting schedules, as well as deciding on our next steps in the coming year.
